Biography - Born November 13, 1979, Belize City, Belize
Angela Gegg was especially intrigued by abstract and surrealist art at a very young age, and has made those techniques main focus of her visual practice. She calls her work “Subconscious Works of Art”, whereby she paints, draws, installs, sculpts and even writes from her altered conscious state. Her work is based on abstraction, and is a translation of a real life experience, a thought and/or a dream and is, deliberately, an exaggeration of her perception of reality. Gegg is also concerned with symmetry in her placement of colors, objects and lines.
The artist often adopts her Latvian grandmother’s name, Proshka, as her artist’s persona. She lives and works in Belize City.
